We stopped at Meeker for a coffee and found an excellent soda fountain at the back of a shop selling all manner of odds and ends. There was a very friendly woman serving and we had a long chat with her – we were joined half way through by a young chap called George who’s been working in Savannah, Georgia but had jacked in his job and driven back 2300 miles in two days. He was very confident and pleasant fellow back in his home town with wonderful meadows nestled amongst low rising mountains. His plans were to go and work for his father in Steamboat. He gave us lots of advise about scenic routes in Colorado. We’d seen a museum so we headed for it where we initially thought we found the local auction house. The museum was composed of many large rooms FILLED with old bric a brac – the star attraction was right at the back of the last room – and old stage coach. We could have spent hours there but we had to move on.
