Beccal72’s travel blog entry: “I woke up at 6:00 AM and stared out our hotel window for a while. It was quite interesting to see the men already hanging outside the fronts of shops smoking and drinking their cafe sua da (coffee with condensed milk) and the women putting out their goods for sale. We made it down to breakfast around 8:30. Our hotel gives us quite a selection to choose from. I chose the fried eggs with bacon and John chose the omelet with sausage and tomatoes. They also bring a basket of cut up baguettes with a choice of butter and strawberry jam. I really liked the jam. It was fresh and not overly sweet. The bacon isn’t like the bacon in America. The strips were thick but had very little fat. John gave me a taste of his omelet and it was good as well. As we approached the 1st major street on our walking tour, it was quite the sight to see a horde of motorcycles waiting at the light. At some of the intersections, there were no traffic lights so navigating across wasn’t quite as easy since most of the drivers (motorcycles and automobiles) weave in and out and cut off people. You just have to find a hole in the traffic and make your way across. After a couple of tries, John and I got pretty good at it. The heat is almost unbearable here.
